Trending 2023 Haircuts
As we head into a new year, many of us are thinking about how to re-invent ourselves in a way that is modern. Personally, I love taking styles that have been super popular and finding ways to modernize or combine them. That seems to be the theme of the hot trends thus far in 2023, and what Iām seeing working with clients here in Nahant.
The Wolf Cut
The number 1 trending haircut for 2023 here in American Fork is the Wolf Cut. It is the modernized shag hair cut, a mix between a vintage shag and a slight mullet. It takes inspiration from the shag cut of the 70s and the mullet cut of the 80s to produce a new, hip look today. InStyle recently said this cut is trendy and here to stay.
A version of the wolf cut, the shaggy bowl cut, is a shorter version that frames your face more prominently.
Famous actresses with this cut are Miley Cyrus, Billie Ellish and Keke Palmer all sport the wolf cut look beautifully and may serve as personal inspiration.
Bangs
Bangs have been popular for the past few years, but this year there are a few styles that are gaining more traction than others, including:
bottleneck bangs
wispy bangs
curtain bangs
Wednesday Addams inspired fringe
Mixie
A mixie is an edgy haircut that is longer in the back, like a mullet, and short in the front, like a pixie. So, in a similar vein to the Wolf cut that is trendy this year.
Popular mixie cuts include a pixie + a shag cut or bob + pixie.
Bob
A bob cut, also known as a bob, is a short to medium length haircut, in which the hair is typically cut straight around the head at approximately jaw level, but no longer than shoulder-length, often with fringe or bangs at the front. A jaw length bob, either blunt or textured, is another hot trend right now.
